"Star Wars" Sand Sculpture at Tottori Dunes in Japan
"Star Wars"-inspired art has continued to pop up across Japan ahead of the release of the series’ new film in December. Now the film’s characters will be rendered in a large sand sculpture in Tottori prefecture. The work is the first sand art to be officially licensed by LucasFilm Ltd. Featured characters include C-3PO, R2-D2 and the ‘X-wing’ starfighters that destroyed the Death Star. Created by Katsuhiko Chaen, it will be 3.4 meters (11 feet) tall and 7.4 meters wide, and will use 160 tons of sand. See more pictures and read more about the sand sculpture at the Wall Street Journal's blog.
