Celebrating Ralph McQuarrie's Birthday
No one can deny the ongoing inspiration of Ralph McQuarrie's artwork for the "Star Wars" universe. Concepts he came up with over 40 years ago are still being used for everything from "The Force Awakens" to "Rebels". You know the look of Zeb Orrelios? That is what Chewbacca originally looked like. I wanted to post one of my favorite pieces by McQuarrie in celebration of the late great artist's birthday. Even though it's not canon and the characters are obviously not dressed as they would be in the final product, I just love how it captures everything about "Star Wars" in one frame. The battle of Good versus Evil, Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader, and the weapons of a space warrior.
